Welcome, Erin Witzel!

We are excited to announce our newest team member, Erin Witzel. Erin is joining us as a developer who will first be spearheading the completion and maintenance of TicketSignup’s new WordPress website (first step: this blog!). She was initially hired for the website project as a contractor, and has been inspired to stay. Over time, Erin will be learning the ropes from the software development team to be a part of building the product, as well as bringing her skills as an illustrator to the team.

To welcome Erin to our team and to give her the opportunity to tell her story, we spent time learning more about her both personally and professionally. Read on to get to know Erin!

Where are you from, and where do you currently reside?

I grew up right outside Philadelphia, went to undergraduate school in Philly, and am now a Philadelphian homeowner of nearly 8 years.

Please tell us a little more about your background.

I studied graphic and interactive design at Temple’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture, but have been programming websites since the age of 12. My artistic and logical passions were married while employed as a web developer for a small Philadelphia design firm for over a decade, as well as working as a contractor and freelancer in the past year. Primarily self-taught in code, my most recent concentrations have been in WordPress and Shopify websites.

What are you most looking forward to in joining the TicketSignup | RunSignup team?

I am definitely looking forward to the camaraderie of the team and being surrounded by experienced forward-thinkers who always seem to push the limits to make the impossible happen.

Tell us about your hobbies and interests, and what you like to do for fun outside of work.

Most of my free time is spent with my young dog, a Shiba Inu named Kuma. Between her and my two cats, there is never a dull moment in my house. Otherwise, I can be found out in the garden or fulfilling a lifelong dream of learning horseback riding. I also enjoy hiking, propagating succulents, drawing comics, and trying new foods.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I am a proud lefty! I also studied abroad for a semester in Tokyo and have a minor in Japanese, much of which I have sadly forgotten.
