Ticket Event Payment Options: Set Up Later and Test Mode

When you create a Ticket Event, you now have multiple options to set up the payment account later, send someone else the setup instructions by email, or use test mode. This makes it simple for organizations to invite the appropriate point of contact in charge of finances to create a new payment account or link an existing payment account. It is also easy for any event management company or timer to set up a ticketed event for client, demo the event in test mode, and send an invite for the organization to create a payment account.

All of these options can be found on Step 3 of the Ticket Wizard, under the Other Options Tab.

When you select Send Setup Instructions by Email you can enter the first name, last name, and email address or the person responsible for setting up the ticket event’s payment account. Then click the orange Send Setup Instructions button.

The invitee will receive an email with a link to set up the payment account. If they already have an an account on TicketSignup or RunSignup, they will be prompted to log in; otherwise, they will need to create an account.

The person you invite to set up the payment account will also have limited access to financial reports, making it easy for them to view and pull financial reports but not giving them access to your event settings or ticket reports. If you would like that person to have full access, you can add them as an event director on your ticket event dashboard by navigating to Event >>Secure Access.

When you select Set Up Later, you are able to proceed through the setup process and add more complexity to your event before adding your payment account information. However, you will not be able to accept transactions until you return to the payment step and add your payment information.

When you select Use Test Mode, you can set up your payment account and test registration before setting up your payment account. However, with test mode you will need to set up a payment account to process ticket purchases, even if you have a free or volunteer event.

When you opt to test the purchase path, you will notice a warning at the top of the pages and you will not be able to complete a purchase. You can set up the payment account at anytime, or go back and send setup instructions to someone else once you have identified the correct person.
