We received the following email at 8pm last night from Square stating that the latest iOS 18.4 update breaks the Square Reader SDK. The Reader SDK is how the TicketSignup App accepts on site Point of Sale payments. We are working on a longer term fix for Square over the next few weeks, but this abrupt change and lack of support from Square means that Square Readers will not work with Apple devices upgraded to iOS 18.4. It also appears to be impacting some earlier iOS versions.

For this weekend, we recommend that ticket events planning to use the Square PoS integration do two things:
- Test the Reader with your device to see if it will accept payments before the event. Note that this is not just impacting TicketSignup’s Point of Sale app, but any business using a Square Reader with an apple device.
- Be sure to print signs with QR Codes for attendees to scan and buy tickets from their phones. More than 70% of tickets are purchased on mobile devices, and TicketSignup’s Apple Pay and digital wallet support make it even more seamless for attendees to buy on site. Plus your events gets additional benefits when attendees buy online: all financials, reporting, and data in one place, more social sharing, and more opportunities to upsell add-ons, ask for donations, and more.
