Calendar-Based Ticketing: The Perfect Fit for Season-Long Concert Series

Customer Snapshot

  • Years on TicketSignup: 1
  • Concerts in series: 6 (across 5 dates)
  • Years of historic preservation: 100

TicketSignup’s calendar-based ticketing gives Historic Boston-Edison Association (HBEA) one place to manage a season-long concert series. HBEA has spent 100 years preserving one of Detroit’s most storied neighborhoods, and to mark the anniversary, the 17th season of Concerts in Boston-Edison brings five award-winning ensembles, including Grammy nominees, to the neighborhood for a concert series across several months, with every ticket funding HBEA’s preservation work.

For years, HBEA ran its ticketed events on Eventbrite, including its Holiday Home Tour fundraiser, which sells more than 1,200 tickets over a weekend spread across multiple time slots. HBEA wasn’t happy with Eventbrite: timed entry fell short, and checkout wasn’t mobile-friendly. As a nonprofit, HBEA passes ticket fees on to attendees, so TicketSignup’s lower fees made a real difference, along with the payment security its donors expect.

Since HBEA was already using RunSignup for its Historic Boston-Edison Association 5K Run/Walk, moving its ticketed events to TicketSignup, built on the same event technology, was a natural step. TicketSignup made things easier right away: calendar-based timed entry ticketing put every time slot on one calendar instead of tracking them by hand, backed by transparent, lower fees, and secure checkout HBEA’s donors could count on.

One Calendar Simplifies a Ticketed Concert Series

Concerts in Boston-Edison brings its own kind of complexity. The season runs six shows across five dates, with multiple ticket prices, dinner and non-dinner options, two performances on the same day, and a season pass covering the whole series.

TicketSignup’s calendar-based MTE Timed Entry ticketing puts every date, price, and the Season Pass bundle on one calendar. Attendees browse by date and see the right tickets for that show automatically, and HBEA sets pricing once per date rather than building a separate listing for every performance.

Concerts in Boston-Edison’s TicketSignup website puts all five acts side by side, each with a photo, bio, and show date, so attendees can browse the full lineup without clicking between pages. Built with TicketSignup’s free Event Websites builder, this kind of layout takes no design work, just a point-and-click way to showcase every artist on one page.

Setting up a multi-date, multi-price concert series could be a heavy lift, but TicketSignup made it easy. HBEA built the whole season with the timed entry wizard, adding each date, dinner and non-dinner pricing, and the Season Pass in one straightforward setup flow. Once live, the calendar updates itself, automatically showing sold-out dates and current pricing, so HBEA spends less time on manual updates and more time on the concerts themselves.

Everything a Nonprofit Needs

Running a season-long series and other events means HBEA needs its tools to work as hard as its small team does. And all of it comes at no cost to HBEA: attendees pay TicketSignup’s standard $0.40 fee per paid ticket, and everything else — email marketing, donations, and the rest of the platform — is included.

Free Email Tools

Reminding attendees about six shows spread from May to September could easily mean paying per-contact fees just to stay in touch. With TicketSignup’s free, unlimited Email Marketing, HBEA can easily send automated emails to attendees ahead of each performance and promote the full series to its list, without per-contact fees or send limits.

Secure Donations

As a nonprofit, HBEA needed to collect donations alongside ticket sales without asking supporters to trust a separate system with their payment information. Every HBEA event raises money for preservation work. TicketSignup’s built-in Donations tools let HBEA collect contributions alongside ticket sales on a platform designed for nonprofit events.

Proactive Support

TicketSignup is more than just a ticketing platform. Every event gets a dedicated account manager who helps support its success. HBEA’s account manager, Elisabeth DellaRova, answers questions quickly and checks in before event day rather than waiting for the event organizers to ask, giving a small nonprofit team one less thing to track on its own.

More Than an Eventbrite Alternative

What started as a search for better timed entry became something bigger. With TicketSignup powering HBEA’s concert series and its other ticketed events, event organizers can spend less time managing ticketing logistics and more time on the work that matters: preserving a neighborhood that’s stood for 100 years, with the tools in place to carry it into its next century.
