A great first impression

The first impression for most when signing up for an event is that event’s website. The Detroit Bourbon and Blues Festival’s website makes a strong first impression with its great-looking design. They opted for a clean, straightforward layout while updating the color theme to seamlessly align with their brand identity. With TicketSignup you’re able to select from a number of existing color themes, or create your own, to match your existing brand identity.

The intuitive interface of the builder allows users to focus on the content rather than grappling with technical complexities. Another highlight of their site is the variety of ticket types offered. Each ticket came with clear, detailed descriptions, ensuring that buyers knew exactly what they were purchasing. This transparency helps manage expectations and enhance the overall customer experience.

You can choose to add different ticket types when going through the guided setup, or you can add them later. It’s simple to do. You just go to “tickets” in your main event dashboard and click “setup”. There you can add in new ticket types, edit pricing, and set the purchasing window for different tickets.

Maximizing merchandise

In addition to their sleek website, the festival organizers created a standalone store dedicated to selling custom merchandise. This move allowed fans to browse and buy event-themed items conveniently. The store’s design aligned with the festival’s branding, offering a cohesive shopping experience.

To maximize merchandise sales, they integrated merch options into the registration process. By providing two channels for purchasing, they increased the likelihood of capturing sales from attendees who might not visit the store otherwise.

Along with two different purchase path options, they also used the strikethrough price feature. This visual cue clearly indicates the original price alongside the discounted rate, which can effectively encourage buyers to make a purchase by showcasing the savings they’re getting.

To add this option, you go to “Store” in your main event dashboard, then select “store setup”. From there you click the dropdown on the right hand side of the item you want to edit and click “edit item”. Once there you can choose to add in a strikethrough price, as well as edit a number of other things.

Delightful discounts

The Detroit Bourbon and Blues Festival also took advantage of TicketSignup’s coupon feature to offer a range of discounts. By providing various coupon options, they catered to different segments of their audience, including sponsors and VIPs. Each coupon had usage caps to prevent overuse, ensuring that discounts remained exclusive and manageable.

The ability to track coupon usage is another significant benefit. TicketSignup’s system records when which coupons are used and by whom, making it easier to monitor and analyze the effectiveness of their discount strategies. This feature not only helps in managing the promotions but also provides valuable insights into customer behavior and preferences.

Overall, the use of coupons was a great way to  provide special rates for key stakeholders. Having all your coupons in the platform makes it much easier to manage and also reduces administrative work as some other ticketing options require people to manually discount tickets.

With TicketSignup you simply click the “financial” tab in your main dashboard. Then select “coupons.” After doing so you can add in as many coupons as you’d like. You can also do things like set usage caps, set the discount amount, expiration dates, and even limit the types of tickets or purchases each coupon applies to.

Looking ahead

The Detroit Bourbon and Blues Festival effectively harnessed the capabilities of TicketSignup. They created a professional looking site, with clear descriptions, and an integrated store, making purchasing as easy as possible for those interested. We’re thrilled to be their ticketing platform of choice and look forward to working together for years to come.
