TicketSignup’s First Patent Publication: A Milestone in Event Technology Innovation

We’re excited to share a major milestone for TicketSignup: our first-ever patent application has officially been published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Titled “Multiday Timed Entry Ticket System For Recurring Events” (US20250094884A1 USPTO PDF  Google Patents Web), the patent is currently under review as part of the USPTO’s formal evaluation process.

This publication is more than a procedural checkpoint—it’s recognition of years of thoughtful design, engineering, and problem-solving that went into building our Multi-Day Timed Entry (MTE) ticketing system. While TicketSignup’s platform is powered by countless innovations, this is the first time we felt that a feature was truly unique and novel enough to warrant a patent filing.

What Makes Multi-Day Timed Entry (MTE) Special?

The MTE system was built to support recurring, timed events that operate over days, weeks, or even perpetually—think holiday light shows, museum exhibits, drive-thru experiences, or any event that needs granular control over visitor flow. While the use case seems simple, the underlying complexity is immense. We looked at competing products and found that many of them suffered from slow performance and poor usability. TicketSignup’s MTE introduces key innovations in three critical areas to provide the most superior experience in the industry:

1. Scalable and Flexible Database Design

At the core of MTE is a powerful, multi-tenant architecture built to handle millions of ticketed time slots across tens of thousands of events. It’s not just about storing data—it’s about enabling performance, flexibility, and reliability at scale. The system also supports ongoing or perpetual events, allowing for continuous ticketing with no predefined end date.

2. Ease of Setup for Event Directors

We designed MTE with the belief that powerful tools shouldn’t require a steep learning curve. Using a combination of intuitive calendar-based interfaces, event directors can monitor and manage everything from sales, pricing and caps to coupons, store items, and time-specific rules—at both the individual time slot level and across broader date groups.

3. A Streamlined Experience for Attendees

The simplicity doesn’t stop at the backend. MTE also delivers a clean, user-friendly ticket purchasing experience for attendees. Searching for available time slots, selecting entries, and checking out is seamless and quick—ensuring that the end-user experience lives up to the power of the system behind it.

A Collaborative Effort to Serve Our Customers

This patent is a reflection of many contributions across our team. We all wanted to build something MUCH BETTER than existing solutions and we knew it would take a tremendous effort.  Officially named inventors Stephen and Benny led the charge, but so many other contributors were critical to producing the best product.  The engineering teams across Email Marketing, Website Builder and Event Day Check-In all ensured smooth integration of this capability across the entire platform.  Our sales, account managers and info@ support teams have been working directly with customers providing steady feedback that has been incorporated back into the product. Lastly our VP of Product Allison continues to drive the vision for this powerful feature.

The Road Ahead

Now that the patent is officially published, the next step is the formal review by the USPTO, which may include examination of the claims, potential prior art, and possible revisions. This process typically spans months to a few years, depending on complexity and backlog. While we await final approval, the publication itself is a meaningful validation of our innovative approach.

In the meantime hundreds of customers are already taking advantage of TicketSignup MTE right now!  Read about the BYOB Holiday Lights Trolley, a complex multi-day, multi-timeslot, multi-city event that used TicketSignup to sell and manage over 20,000 tickets. We are not done yet!  We have additional features planned and continue to release enhancements to the product on a regular basis.
