About On Broadway Inc.

Community is at the core of most events. Whether it’s building, bringing together, or lifting up, events empower communities like none other. And if there’s one thing that the folks at On Broadway, Inc. know, it’s community.

They’ve worked with the Broadway district in Green Bay, Wisconsin for almost 20 years to bring people together and build a lasting, and thriving community, in the district. They do a lot of different things to uplift their community and events are a big part of that. And one of their marquee events for the year is the Winter Wine and Beer Walk.

Bringing people together

Now in its 9th year, the Winter Wine and Beer Walk brings thousands of people to Green Bay’s Broadway district every December. The event takes place on the first three Fridays of the month, with around 800-900 people attending each day. Attendees have the pleasure of tasting regional wines and beers at a variety of stops hosted by local businesses throughout the night. There’s no set path, letting participants choose their own adventure.

The Winter Wine and Beer Walk isn’t just a fun event, it’s also good for the Broadway district as a whole. “It’s a really great way to get people in the stores, and shopping in the district during the holiday season – especially when it’s winter and people don’t want to go outside,” said Betsy Sorensen, On Broadway Inc.’s special events manager.

A simpler solution

In previous years On Broadway Inc,’s team used another ticketing system for the event. Though it worked, it left something to be desired, motivating them to look for a new solution in 2022. “Our director of events had used RunSignup previously and liked it so much that when we found TicketSignup we decided to use it,” said Betsy.

Over the past two years there’s a lot the On Broadway Inc. team found to like about TicketSignup, starting with the set up. “The platform is really user friendly; I like how you can set up an entire site and put your brand in it.”

Things like TicketSignup’s event wizard and straightforward website builder options make creating an on-brand website simple, while giving event organizers the ability to customize the site to fit their brand. And TicketSignup hasn’t just made the initial setup easier, it’s had an impact on the entire process.

For example, they also use QR codes to help improve the buying experience. “We put up QR codes for all our events.” They place signs around the district, making it very convenient for passersby to buy tickets to the event.

Along with making the buying process easier for attendees, it’s also helped with event day  logistics. “We use the email feature to let attendees know when and where to check-in, which is super helpful for everyone.”

It’s not just attendees who benefit, theTicketSignup Tickets App for Check-In made event day much simpler for people working the event, too. “The check in feature is great. We work pretty heavily with volunteers, so it’s really helpful that all they have to do is download the app to their phone, then they’re able to check people in.”

The best ticket in town

Convenience is certainly a big part of what drew the On Broadway Inc. team to TicketSignup, but it’s far from the only thing. Ticket Groups and pricing options also provided a lot of flexibility for tickets. “We do early bird tickets, standard tickets, and day of tickets – which have a five dollar premium attached.”

Getting a discount encourages people to buy sooner, and if they do decide to wait, the day of premium helps generate more dollars for the important work On Broadway Inc. does in their community. “We raise a good amount of money for the district with events like the Winter Wine and Beer Walk, which is why they’re so important.”

They were also able to start offering an additional ticket type to engage a new audience.

“We wanted to be inclusive of people who choose not to drink alcohol without the premium of paying for the alcoholic beverages…The ticket groups made the options much easier for attendees to choose what ticket they wanted.”

Though ticket sales are the biggest driver of revenue, they aren’t the only ones. “We add the donation into the purchase path and edit the default amount per event and we’ve raised quite a bit of money using that feature.”

By adding the donation option within the purchase path, they’ve been able to raise additional funds they may not have otherwise. “Thousands of people sign up for the event, so if even just a percentage of people decide to donate it brings in a good amount of additional money for the district,” said Betsy.

Looking forward

On Broadway Inc.’s commitment to their community is truly inspiring. The work they do not only brings people together, it also lifts them up. We’re excited and honored to play a small part in the important work On Broadway Inc. does.

Though they started with just the Winter Wine and Beer Walk on TicketSignup, they’ve since expanded their use. “This was the first event we used the platform for and now we use it for all our ticketed events.” It’s a huge compliment and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with On Broadway for years to come.
